Black Folder

why when i login to my computer i dont see my destop.instead its all black and a folder is open..how to fix it

yester day i was doloading sum stuff…..when i finish or wat ever…my computer was going trough a update..so they ask me to restart my computer….i did….so whhen it rebooted or wat eever i login to my acount…and the backround was black… and a folder was open….pleez…pleeezzz how do i fix this….any tips…real answers
i cant get any access to my start button….when i log in the scree is black and a folder is open..to destop

There are many things that this could have been:

1) It could be that your computer is in Safe Mode, a mode where you are unable to open files and go on the Internet & the such.

To fix this problem, you can shut down your computer by HOLDING DOWN the button on your hard drive. When the computer re-starts, there will be an all-black screen with lots of grey letters. Click on the button that says, START WINDOWS NORMALLY. That should fix the problem.

2) It could be that your computer was NOT really updating at ALL, just downloading a harmful virus onto your comuter Hardrive.

To fix this problem, you should try getting some anti-virus onto your computer. If you use a windows operating system (OTHER THAN VISTA) I would recommend Norton 2008. If you have Vista, use McAfee 2008.

If problems still continue, you should take your computer in to Best Buy so that the Geek Squad can check it out.

IMPORTANT: This is only if you use a WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM. If you use Vista, I have no clue how to fix it.
