Black Cherry

If I harvst the inner bark of wild black cherry in the summer instead of the winter, is the chemistry the sam?

My friend felled two wild black cherry saplings. Can I use the bark harvested this spring for cough surup? Will it be as efficient as that harvested in the winter?

I have peeled back the bark of black cherries in the spring and summer to smell the inner bark. It is pretty strong so would you have no problem making a tea with it.
