Black Angus

Gibsons elite rock/ metal guitarists
Some great guitar players have used Gibson guitars to tear up the fretboard and entertain the masses. Here’s afew of the players that have used Gibson guitars to bring rock & heavy metal to the people.
- Angus Young -AC/DC. Angus Young could be the most famous Gibson guitar player ever. The Austrialian has been playing a Gibson SG since they band were formed in 1973, and hes still playing the SG and still playing to the world. Angus has rarley ever been seen without his Gibson SG, although he also owns a Gibson Firebird & a 335.
Classic tracks: Highway to hell, back in black, let there be rock - Slash. ‘Saul Hudson’, as his mother knows him, has been playing with a Les Paul since during the recording our Guns and Roses classic debut album ‘appetite for destruction’. But what isnt known is that the Les Paul on the album is a copy job, and not a Gibson model. It made no difference though, as his use of the instrument made the Les Paul even more iconic and helped to increase slumping sales of the instrument. Slash now has his own signature model Gibson, but uses a 1987 Les Paul standard, which has had its neck repaired numerous times.
Classic tracks: Welcome to the jungle, Sweet child of mine, Slither - Tony Iommi. The man who gave us the heavy metal guitar sound, Black Sabbath & Tony Iommi gave the world the extremely loud gift of heavy metal. Iommi lost his middle & index fingertips in an industral accident and had to relearn to play guitar all over again -inspired by Django Rienhardt, who had limited use of his 3rd and 4th fingers. Iommi has been playing with a Gibson SG since the recording of the first Black Sabbath album when his Fender’s neck pickup broke and hasnt returned to them since.
Classic tracks: Paranoid, Black Sabbath, War pigs - Zakk Wylde. Ozzy bought Zakk into his solo band after being sent a tape of him playing, and Wylde has been playing with him on and off ever since. Zakk also has his successful ‘side project’ Black label society, which tours and records in Ozzy downtime. Wylde’s guitars are reconisable by their ‘bullseye’ paint job, which are on his signature Les Paul range.
Classic Zakk Wylde tracks: Forever down, Suicide Messiah, Electric Hellfire
