How To lock the back door of a ford escape?

we just got a ford escape it’s really nice & everything but the only problem is that the back door won’t lock
is there like a certain way to lock it?
please help

If you push the plunger down manually does it lock? It might be a lock motor then. Try pulling the plunger up and down a dozen times and then try the power lock button. Child lock switches are on the back of the door BTW. Nothing special about it.
