Arts Tai

Would like to take up martial arts, like tai chi or kung fu. What’s a reasonable price for personal tuition?
I don’t want to go to a gym. I don’t want to join a club, and I know some instructors will train you personally, but because of the specific attention on one person, the cost is higher – than obviously for a group. Found one instructor I think could be perfect for teaching me, qualified, licensed and so on. His charges are £20 per hour. He is based in West Midlands UK. I saw one instructor teach kids in Oxford for £40 per hour, so is £20 good?
HI -= the currency rate is $40 US Dollars. I think the charge is good – but I have no resason to be suspicious. It’s just a club …well there’s sems to be lots of standing around before the instructor comes back to you, but this instructor introduced me to new stuff, but learning at my own pace. I thought £20 was quite a lot until i had the first lesson with him…he seems very good, thorough, and was training in China with a good tai chi master so I want to stick with him because I think I could learn a lot.
Hi there
I had private lessons for two years and paid £25 per hour (approx $50) which i didn’t mind paying for good instruction. Private lessons help ten fold as they allow you to get up to speed allowing you to work those specific areas that you struggle with. From experience you should still attend regular classes because they allow you to train with different body types and characters which you will miss out on if you only have private lessons.
Private classes are great but you cant beat the buzz from a packed out class.
Best wishes
