what help can going active army give me so I don’t have to file bankruptcy?

I leave for basic on Nov.17, I’m going Active Army with MOS 94E which requires a security clearance. I’ve got good credit but Ive got like say $20,000 in debt, what does the Army have to offer as far as helping me get it under control? After all I’m going in to help get rid of this debt I don’t want to file but my wife thinks we should and yes I know that could affect my clearance if I did. do they offer any kind of loans that would help me consolidate my payments that would help a lot (like pioneer loans maybe?) I don’t really know going active should help with money anyways, but please give me some info on what they have available to help me out or anything that may be helpful to my situation! thanks

If you have a high interest rate then consider using the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to reduce your interest rates to 6%. That is your best option for now. Also, cutting back on expenses will help. Once you file for bankruptcy, your clearance will most likely be toast and you will have to change to a job that doesn’t require one.

Pioneer could help but their interest rates are outrageous. Also, they might even put your chain of command on speed dial just in case you miss a payment. If you have good credit and reducing your interest rates isn’t enough to allow you to make payments then look into other types of loans.
